The White Lighthouse has decided to close its doors in Wood Street Indoor market and instead work on pop up galleries, exhibitions, shops and markets. We will still have a website where you can keep up to date with what’s happening, and will still be involved in the Walthamstow Art Scene..so watch this space! The last full trading day in the market will be Saturday 17thDecember, so get in quick to grab some great Christmas gifts!
We will also be open on Tuesday 13thDec from 6.30-8pm to coincide with the Wood Street Market open evening event (7-8pm) where people can come and find out more about getting their own FREE market unit for 3 months. FREE shop units available!
Wood Streetis an important and up-and-coming corner of Walthamstow, having recently-completed a new public plaza, further investment is coming into the area and attention has turned to Wood Street Indoor Market. Local funding is now supporting a new campaign to fill the market's empty units with new tenants and new life. So this is an open call for ideas! They are looking for responses from creative people, community projects, local business start-ups, artists, makers, designers, collectors or anybody else!
The market owners are offering three months free rent of a shop unit, with an optional further three months at half-price rent.This including all facilities such as wi-fi, power, rubbish collection and all rates. Along side this the new tenants will be supported with a series of events, a dedicated web presence and targeted networking.
There is an application process as there is likely to be more applications made than the 16 vacant spaces available. The application deadline is 9th January 2012, with the successful applicants announced shortly afterwards.

The White Lighthouse is and art and craft gallery and shop space in Wood street Indoor Market, set up by Sarah Hawkins with the aim of bringing arts and crafts to the Wood Street area, and add to Walthamstows ever growing community of artists!
Whilst we will be running our real gallery and shop from Wood Street Indoor Market, we will also be available in our virtual gallery and online shop (currently under construction). However, we do like meeting people so please pop in to the gallery and see us, have a browse in the antique and collectibles shops or have a cuppa in the cafe!
